Upcoming Workshops

After-school Cricut for kids

Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2025 (weekly on Wednesdays) | Time: 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Make anything with the Cricut!

Come and let your imagination run wild to make a one-of-a-kind t-shirt, tote bag, or hoodie, sticker set, decal, window decoration, wall art, birthday card, or stencil.

We'll teach you how to bring your design to life and use and operate the Cricut machine. We have a range of iron-materials in various styles, as well as print-your own, and stickers and vinyl and other materials.

Suitable for kids aged 8+. Max 3 participants plus at least one parent/guardian.

$40 / student. Blank t-shirts & tote-bags available for purchase for $10/each in different styles, sizes, and colours. You're welcome to bring your own too! All other materials included in the cost.

3D printing holiday workshop

Date: Tue, 30 Sep 2025 | Time: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

September school holidays - for school students in year 7-12.

Date TBC

In this three-hour workshop we'll explore the magic of 3D printing and what it can be used for.

  • What is 3D printing, and how does it work? With some hands-on time with our Prusa XL, we'll see it in action.
  • We'll take a look at how 3D printing is used in industry to solve previously-impossible manufacturing problems.
  • With the help of tools like Tinkercad and Onshape, we'll make some 3D designs and explore how to use & remix existing designs that have been published online.
  • And of course, we'll do some 3D printing, including some parts that you can take home afterwards!

No prior experience with computer-aided design or digital fabrication necessary.

$100/student (Includes all materials)

Maximum of four participants, parents/guardians welcome to join too!

Build your own LED animated wall sign

Date: Wed, 1 Oct 2025 | Time: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

September school holidays - for school students in year 7-12.

Date TBC

In this three-hour workshop, we will build and animate a multi-colour LED animated wall sign that you can take home afterwards.

Before the workshop, send us a design (or a word or an idea and we can make something for you) and we'll laser-cut it for you to use as the base. Then in the workshop we'll learn:

  • The basics of controllable LED strips known as "Neopixels".
  • How to control them using a micro:bit or the Raspberry Pi Pico W.
  • How to integrate them into the sign.
  • Designing animations, mapping spatial locations to LEDs, fades and effects.
  • Introductory colour perception theory to help make the colours and effects look great.

Some prior coding experience, e.g. Scratch or Python, would be helpful but not strictly necessary.

$150/student (Includes all materials)

Maximum of four participants, parents/guardians welcome to join too!

Window & wall art holiday workshop

Date: Wed, 8 Oct 2025 | Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

September school holidays - for school students in year 9-12.

Date TBC

This is a three-hour workshop for students interested in graphic design to turn their digital designs into physical creations in the form of vinyl wall stickers, window frosting, or stencils using the Cricut.

Bring your own design, or let us know in advance and we can help find something online for you to use!

We'll learn how to tune and optimise your designs for the machines, working with the constraints of the materials we're using. Then we'll use the Cricut to cut out the designs, and you can take them home afterwards!

Some prior experience with graphic design (Photoshop, etc, or vector tools such as Illustrator, Inkscape) would be helpful but absolutely not necessary.

$150/student (Includes all materials)

Maximum of four participants, parents/guardians welcome to join too!

Renewable Energy Engineering

Date: Wed, 8 Oct 2025 | Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

September school holidays - for school students in year 10-12.

Date TBC

In this four-hour workshop, we'll explore concepts around a range of aspects of energy conservation and the transition to renewable electricity, with hands on activities and experiments, as well as some coding and simulations.

  • How does the grid get power to your home?
  • What types of generation are used, what's the physics and engineering behind how they work, and how do they interact with eachother?
  • Why does power cost more at different times of the day, and how can you optimise for time-of-use?
  • How do heat pumps give such impressive energy savings?
  • How do electric cars employ regenerative braking to save energy and reduce wear and tear?
  • What are LED lights, how do they work, and why are they so efficient?

No prior electronics or coding experience required, just an interest in the magic behind this exciting transition!

$200/student

Maximum of four participants, parents/guardians welcome to join too!
